A cozy space for the whole family! A cluttered and out-dated basement gets organized and updated to create both a fun space for teens and a inviting space for the whole family.
Bare and cluttered: with a growing family in tow, this basement needed some accessories and a little TLC to suit the evolving needs of this family of five.
Children’s toys were cleared away and a lounge area was created to appeal to the now teenagers. Making the fireplace the focal point, decorative elements and a few pieces of furniture were added to tie the space together and inject warmth and texture.
A combination of music inspired wall decor and family photos make the space feel home-y and fun.
A bench with some throw pillows near the foosball table makes perfect spectator seating for tournaments!
Before: Shelves are packed with games, toys, books and arts & crafts supplies with no rhyme or reason.
A little organization goes a long way!
Books, frames and miscellaneous toys are neatly organized into a library on the open shelving. School supplies are hidden away and kept neat behind closed doors. Frequently used games are easily accessible on open shelving while others along with toys and dress-up items are neatly stored in the closed portion of the wall unit.
Larger arts & crafts projects are kept on shelving while the abundance of supplies and tools such as markers, pens, pencils, glue, tape, glitter (etc!) are sorted and organized into labelled storages boxes and jars on the shelves and work surface. The practical cork board backspalsh is used to display unique creations, cards, photos and works of art.
