A teen’s childhood bedroom gets a sophisticated makeover.
The wallpaper on the upper half of the wall was removed and painted with Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen Blue HC-156, while the original wainscotting on the lower part of the wall was given a fresh coat of white paint. The blonde wood floors were stained gray. The wooden horizontals and blue valance on the window were replaced with a soft while silhouette blind and a flax colored linen valance. The single bed was upgraded to a double with side tables.
With the fresh look of the new bedroom, treasured items from the room’s former life such as the custom desk, the window mirror and the grade-school painting go from childish to curated accents.
The look is polished off with carefully selected nautical and vintage inspired accessories like the cardinal point knobs, the map, the metal and rope mirror, and the metal bicycle signs.
